The Heads-Up Championship, the first open-event of the 2011 WSOP, drew 128 players to create a prize pool of $3.04 million out of which $851k is dedicated to first place. It’s the most cash ever generated by a heads-up tournament.
Increase in buy-in from $10k to $25k resulted in larger prize pool even though the number of players is half that of last years Heads-Up Championship. The participants include a number of big name players: Daniel Negreanu, Erik Seidel, Tom Dwan, Erick Lindgren, Vanessa Rousso and Patrik Antonius.
